Derbyshire Makes 2026
The Derbyshire Makes Festival is taking place in Swadlincote on Saturday 25th April. As the programme below states it "promises to be a fun-filled day of creativity and community in the heart of Swad! Our free festival invites people of all ages to get hands-on, and explore making in all its wonderful, magical forms. Like threads woven together, South Derbyshireʼs past, present and future are closely connected. From mining and pottery to textiles and flax-growing, these skills, industries and stories continue to influence how people live, make and create today. Meet local artists including our Forest Makers whose nature friendly craft practices are growing in the heart of the National Forest. Be inspired at brand new exhibitions and enjoy exciting performances across some of Swadlincoteʼs favourite town centre venues."
A number of the Belmont family will be involved in the festival:
ClayMates - Exhibition (p3 of the guide)
Our Year 3 children have all created a clay model and these will be on display in Sharpe's Pottery.
South Derbyshire in Stitches Exhibition (page 6 of the guide)
Our Year 2 children have created the border of the wonderful community quilt. This will be on display in the Town Hall.
The Giant Wheel Parade (page 2 of the guide)
Our reception children will be invited to join in the special parade. Further details will follow as we have only just been asked to take part. The children will be taking part in a dance workshop tomorrow in preparation for Saturday and it would be lovely for them to perform on Saturday if they can.
Attie Lime, the poet who has visited school will also be leading a community workshop in the library (page 7 of the guide).
