Our school believes that in today’s world, learning another language and understanding other cultures can enrich the lives of our pupils. We value the importance of learning another language in order to improve opportunities later in life and the benefits it can have in all areas of the curriculum.

 

Spanish is therefore taught to all Key Stage 2 pupils by our specialist Spanish teacher, Mrs Smith. The language is delivered in a practical, enjoyable and meaningful way, focusing mainly on speaking and listening skills in Years 3 and 4 and gradually building up reading and writing skills by the end of Key Stage 2.

 

Spanish is taught using the Rachel Hawkes scheme of work and is supplemented by other resources such as songs, games and flashcards.
