Ethos and Values

Our Ethos and Values

At Belmont Primary School, we have high expectations of all children and promote effective wellbeing and self-care through a values-based approach. The principles of Values-based Education underpin our behaviour and recognition strategy and is driven by our ethos of ‘Supporting each other to achieve success’.

Through this approach, we teach children the importance of being intrinsically motivated to aim high, and to be the best versions of themselves.

We teach children explicitly the importance of regulating and managing their emotions together with how they exhibit and self-lead the appropriate behaviour within different environments.

Children at Belmont Primary School are taught that a value is a principle that guides our behaviour and choices we make.

Our core values of ‘Respect, Kindness, Resilience and Excellence’ are taught and modelled to children daily, as well as the teaching of other values throughout the year.

Children have the opportunity to practice and discuss these daily and each term will fulfil the role of a ‘Values Champion’. Where necessary, children will coach others within this role; supporting one another to achieve success.

We use clear and consistent language whilst modelling a variety of examples to the children in order to fully develop their understanding of the values taught.
