  • Fabulous Friday Afternoon with Nigel Clough

    Sun 08 Dec 2019
Belmont had an action packed two hours with Nigel Clough and Chris Beardsley from Burton Albion Football Club. Our prime minister, Leon, warmly welcomed our visitors to Belmont. The Sports Leaders enjoyed asking Nigel lots of questions about the importance of leadership skills and Nigel shared his favourite books. A whole school assembly followed and again some excellent questions for Nigel from our Year 2, 3 and 4 children. To finish the afternoon, twenty children thrived on the responsibility of representing Belmont in a coaching session led by Chris and Nigel. An amazing time was had by all and the children's enthusiasm and team work was outstanding!

  • Primary Goalball

    Sun 08 Dec 2019

Belmont entered two Year 6 teams into the Primary Goalball event held on Thursday 7th November at Greenbank Leisure Centre. The Year 6 pupils have spent a series of their PE lessons learning all about Goalball and developing their tactical play ready for the competition. We are proud to report that both of our teams won two out of the initial three matches putting them through to the quarter finals.

All of our children played with great sportsmanship and supported one another brilliantly. We now look forward now to our inter-house competition taking place during PE lessons over the next few weeks. Good luck everybody!

  • Cross Country

    Sun 08 Dec 2019

Belmont entered eight teams into the Primary Cross Country event held on Tuesday 22nd October at Melbourne Sports Park. The majority of Belmont Running Club members took part ranging from Year 3 to Year 6. Each child ran a total of 2km against a strong field of many local primary schools. Our results were outstanding especially with a first place for Daisy in the Y6 girls event. This will mean that Daisy will be selected to represent the district at the National Primary Cross Country event in March 2020. The Y3 boys produced a fabulous third, fifth and sixth place with Ralph, Dylan and Reece. Other great results included a sixth place for Theo in the Y5 boys and 7th for Billy in the Y6 boys event. We are so incredibly proud of every child who took part, well done!
