Belmont Primary School recently began work on the ‘Derbyshire Ready’ project which provides Enterprise Education training for teachers in order to deliver this aspect of learning in the school curriculum.
The aim of Derbyshire Ready is to help teachers to prepare pupils for life and work in the 21st century, giving them a relevant and up-to-date perspective on what jobs are available, and what skills are needed, in their local area, nationally and on a global scale. It also includes three strands of learning including: enterprise capability, financial literacy and economic and business understanding.
Enterprise work will become embedded in current curriculum subjects and topics and be reflected in pupil work and displays around school, Year 2 and Year 6 have delivered projects related to enterprise and pupil engagement has been positive. Belmont is also developing high quality education-business relationships to support our work.
